Esho Koro Snaan Nobo-Dhara Jole
Esho Nipo Bone Chaya Bithi Tole..
Since long the students of our Happy classroom program at Bhalobasa were requesting for a day out. And what could have been a better way to celebrate a day other than having a tree plantation festival? It would not only rejuvenate their bodies with some fresh air, but also equip their young minds for the betterment of this planet earth. In this day and age where environmental crisis is looming large just round the corner, it is of utmost importance to educate the young generation about the importance of planting and protecting the greenery. Coming from the slums around Thakurpukur area, the students do not have much idea about village life, culture and nature. So FOKE , along with our education program partner Behala Sujan was privileged to organize such a day for these young minds on 3rd July, 2022.
A day packed with much enthusiasm and fun, it started with a drawing competition for the students based on the theme of environment.
Once they were done unleashing their imaginations onto the canvas, they were ready to jump onto the home garden with shovels and forks. And not only the young ones, our elderly members were equally enthusiastic as well.
A variety of saplings were planted with a synchronous singing of Tagore’s songs in background, as if the saplings were being welcomed in their new habitat, Charunibas. FOKE was also happy to arrange sumptuous meals for all our enthusiastic participants. The day concluded with a prize distribution ceremony where winners of the drawing competition were handed over some tokens of appreciation by our elderly members.
All in all, a day filled with goodness and love towards Mother Earth, FOKE is extremely grateful to all the participants and Behala Sujan for initiating and making the necessary arrangements for this day out. The children of Happy classroom went home really happy!!
